YEAR 3 FOR THE CLAYTON FAIR

Dusk at the Clayton Community Fair and Rodeo grounds.

The 2008 Clayton Community Fair Royalty. On the left in front Queen Chelsea Jansen. Behind her are her parents Mr. & Mrs. John Jansen. On the right is Princess Emily Albrecht, Behind her are her parents Mr. & Mrs. John Albrecht of the 2009 Clayton Fair.

The Clayton Community float in Clayton Day Parade. The riders had a wonderful time!

A photograph of some of the fair displays taken by Karen Renner Meyer of the Loon Lake Historical Society and a Clayton native.

The 2009 Clayton County Fair got off to the best start ever. Mr. Wagner and his wife Verna Yingst Wagner visited the CDPHS booth. CDPHS member, Florene Moore greeted her life long friend, Verna Yingst. Verna gave us an envelope stuffed with class pictures from Deer Park Elementry School & a promise to furnish us with her family photos dating back to the pioneer days of the Yingst homesteading years on Wild Rose Prairie

This is Peter Coffin talking to Mr. Wagner. Peter is a man of many talents. Fortunatly he is on our Historical Society staff.

A new Fair grounds building built by Howard Richards & Cliff Meyer housed our CDPHS booth plus a much larger display of both Goats & Fowl.

This is Mr Jeff Lilly. A member of our Society, professional photoghrapher, and writer.

More noisy roosters.

I recall Plymoth Rock, Bantam, Rhode Island Red and New Hampshire.

This young lady could fire off the breed of every chicken, duck or any other fowl.

No wise quacks because these little ducks are very adorable.

This barn was built for the Clayton Fair grounds by Howard Richards, Cliff Meyer, and many other volunteers. The building was used display both the goats and a wide array of fowl. The lean-to was occupied by the CDPHS. Manned by its all volunteer members. We meet every 2nd Saturday of the month at the Clayton Drive In at 9.00 AM. Taffy and Randy Long are the proud owners of this immaculate restaurant. They bid us welcome, Keep it cool in the Summer, Toasty warm with a glowing fireplace in the winter. All on the house. God Bless them and their wonderful staff.

Bill Sebright manning the CDPHS booth. The rough sawn 1 x 12 white fir lumber was supplied by Cliff Meyer and sawed by Lyle Wiltse's portable sawmill. The entire building is sided board & batten. Photo by Pete Coffin.

Sharon Boyd Clark, Lorraine Milner Ball and her sister-in-law, Eleanor Ball, hold down the fort during the Clayton Fair.

Bill Sebright demonstrates the use of a brick carrier device. When it was necessary to handle bricks manually these carriers were used. Notice the photo behind showing the Brick Plant. The round brick structures being a kilns. After the bricks were fired and cooled a crew of men loaded the bricks on pallets or carts using these carriers. They were also used extensively for loading rail cars.

Marilyn Meyer Reilly doing her part. This lady is full of surprises. She and her husband Fay posses a wealth of memorabilia and they are not reluctant to share it. They donated our CDPHS sign hanging above our booth. Marilyn is the sister of Cliff Meyer of Loon Lake. Cliff & his wife Karen Renner Meyer have more than their share on antique farm machinery. They share and display at each and every Clayton Day & Clayton Fair. Thank you to the Meyer and Reilly families.

Sharon Boyd Clark does her fair share. This lady is a computer whiz. She lives in the Cheney, WA area and has full access to the historical files at the Eastern Washington University Library.

Bill points out the features of the main drive wheel of the WB&L Terra Cotta plant.

This is the 5 inch square center to the 32 in wooden pulley owned by Cliff Meyer. Cliff and his brother Don found the pulley by the old Terra Cotta building back in the 1950s when Pete Berg was raising chickens in the empty building.

The Rock Star, at Old Mac Donald's farm. Donald Gilespie to be exact. Not exactly in our area but close enough.
